If you’re not familiar with binocular vision dysfunction and other neurovisual disorders, all the information about signs, symptoms, causes and treatments can get pretty confusing. If you’ve recently learned about binocular vision dysfunction (BVD) or vertical heterophoria, and think you may be experiencing symptoms of either, our informative YouTube videos can help clear things up for you.
Our testimonial videos will help you know that you’re not alone with your symptoms! Here is a synopsis of a few of the informational videos Dr. Israeloff has made to help current and potential patients.
Systems That Affect Our Balance
In this video, Dr. Israeloff talks about the different systems that affect our balance. She uses a tripod to represent these three systems: the vestibular system, which comprises all the balance organs in our inner ear; proprioceptors in our legs and feet and the muscles in our joints, which let us know when we’re moving straight in relation to the world around us; and the visual system, which sends signals from the eyes to the inner ears that let us know that we’re moving through space instead of the world moving around us. Watch what happens when one or more of these “legs” are taken away.
Post-Concussive Syndrome & Binocular Vision Dysfunction
People who have suffered a concussion often experience visual problems, including symptoms of double vision, blurred vision, extreme headaches, light sensitivity and dizziness, all of which could be stemming from the eyes. In this video, Dr. Israeloff explains how a concussion can cause the eyes to move out of alignment, and also covers the side effects of this misalignment.
ADHD & Binocular Vision Dysfunction
In a world where it has become necessary to focus on screens of all kinds for long periods of time, it can be very difficult for the eyes to stay aligned and maintain their focus. People with ADHD may be taking medications that hinder this ability even more. Watch to discover how reading difficulties fit into this equation, and learn more about the special glasses we use to realign the eyes and treat binocular vision dysfunction.
