Facial pain and pain around eyes can be very uncomfortable and disconcerting, especially when it happens at the mall, grocery store or other public spaces. Facial pain can often worsen in areas that have a lot of visual stimulation or complexity.
This pain can be caused by eye strain from the muscles around the eyes and extend to the forehead, temples and bridge of the nose. There are six eye muscles that can cause facial pain. When you have intense facial pain, it can feel like sinus pain and wrap around the eye. It may even become hard to perform basic functions.
Post Concussive Syndrome and Dizziness
For people who have had a concussion and are experiencing post concussive syndrome, facial pain is a common occurrence. They may also seek out treatment for dizziness. Dizziness is a symptom but never the cause of a person’s pain or discomfort. It is important to properly diagnose the cause of any discomfort.
If you’ve suffered a concussion in the past, the way your brain interprets visual signals can be affected. Our professional team of eye specialists at the Neuro Visual Center of New York are experienced in treating conditions such as post concussive syndrome that can manifest as dizziness and headaches.
Post concussive syndrome can affect your eyes long after your concussion occurred, making you dizzy and triggering headaches when performing routine daily activities. It is important if you have had a concussion or are experiencing recurring symptoms such as dizziness, that you see a specially trained doctor who is trained in treating eye conditions that could be the cause of your symptoms. Through a proper diagnosis, you will be able to improve your eyesight and get appropriate treatment for dizziness.
